Our topic this term is all about Inventors and Inventions...

We are really enjoying learning all about different inventors, and in particular inventors that lived or live in Northern Ireland. This topic provides us with plenty of opportunity to complete STEM activities. Have a look at all the fun things we have been learning about...

Week 1: John Boyd Dunlop

We really enjoyed learning all about John Boyd Dunlop who invented the first practical pneumatic tyre. We carried out a STEM experiment using balloon rockets to test for friction.

Week 2: Sir James Martin

We had a lot of fun learning about Sir James Martin. He invented many things from three wheeler cars to a hood for your bicycle but he is renowned for the creation of the ejector seat. We carried out a STEM experiment using eggs and pilots as we tried to create a shock absorbing system alongside a parachute to protect our 'pilot' for injury.
